Is Invega a good medication?

I know @Minnii takes Inviga. Have you gain weight on it? or does it increase appetite?

I read in the side effects about weight gain but most antipsychotics are like that.

I’ve been on Invega for a few months and am just now coming off of it to try Abilify. I can tell you that for me, Invega completely got rid of my hallucinations and delusions. I still had episodes of paranoia but my hallucinations were gone. I had to take 12mg (maximum dose) for it to work that well. There are side effects, for me I had some pretty nasty side effects that are dealt with in other threads but since you’re a woman I think you would be safe. It made me gain a lot of weight, about 40 pounds in 2 months, but then at some point I just stopped gaining weight. It increases prolactin just like Risperdal does so you could potentially have lactation. But this didn’t happen to me.

Overall it’s been a great medication for me, I just chose to change to Abilify because of the weight gain and other male-specific side effects.

I was on Invega for a short while in the past.
Invega is usually a quite effective Antipsychotic, it is related to Risperdal.

Invega is a good med if you suffer with lots of positive symptoms but it could worsen Negative Symptoms but it’s not as bad as Risperidone.

Invega is usually better than Zyprexa and Seroquel as far as weight gain is concerned.

I’m on 12mg Invega. I think it’s a good med. It took a long time to work for me but I think it works well. Although I still get breakthrough symptoms and my psychiatrist is trying me on seroquel as a prn for sedation.

I didn’t gain much weight on it, between 8 - 10 kg. It doesn’t make me super hungry. Like @Sooner88 said, it can cause lactation but it hasn’t raised my prolactin levels and hasn’t made me lactate at all.

I’ve been on invega for 4 years. I have no hallucinations and hardly any delusions, I am able to orgasm and ejaculate normally, I have a lessened libido. It ia much better than risperdal. I am able to work and socialise. I take 6mg.

I tried the injection for almost two months. I switched before it could reach its full effect (5 months) but it was doing its job. Although, I developed Akathisia on it so thats why I switched.

İ have been use since 2 years with 75mg injection.it has no sexual side effect except for mild loss of libido .but i have suffer from suicidal thoughts.it can weight gain (i gained 20kg since 2 years) but generally is the best AP so far.i have done lot of achievement with this drug since 2 years but i m suffer from paranoia lot and i want to be dead but i m not sure is it from illness or because of drug.this drugs makes you really normal person.at least i have sex life.

It can cause side effects such as :

  1. dose dependent extrapyramidal symptoms
  2. hyperprolactinemia (sexual dysfunction, osteoporosis, gynecomastia, hypoestrogenism, amenorrhoea)
  3. increased risk for diabetes

Extrapyramidal disorder very rare;
Hyperprolactinemia common;
Diabetes not much

İts all dependent how much dose do you use.if you take 50 75 mg none of this can happen.but if you use more than 150mg all of them can happen.
