Do you care about material possessions?

I have a friend who is I guess 32. She is a successful engineer and I like her character. She is married to an engineer too and I like both of them

A couple of months ago, they had a fight. She wanted a Rolex watch which is 10K and her husband said no.
Anyway, yesterday they came o visit me and we had some drinks and she showed me her watch. I like it but it doesn’t mean anything to me. I guess it’s more like a status achievement in the community to own an expensive watch.

I would like to buy a channel purse when I go to paris next year, maybe I am like her too. At least the watch has more value though and it can be kept in the family I guess.

I don’t care at all. I like my clothes and my possessions, but I prefer hand made stuff by hippie craftsmen

I like nice clothes and having access to the internet and books. Other than that I don’t care much for material possessions.

The only possession I really care about is my computer, which allows me to talk with other people.

i could live in a tent with nothing at all but a small pan and some food xxx
some people think they wouldnt get by without any materials, like mi mam. but its their way of dealing with something in the past.

mi mam is now old and has got rid of all the stuff she had when we were kids and growing up like a handbag to match that dress and shoes to go with it and earring s and necklace bracelet and watch to go with it too.

i think her wardrobe was bigger than Elton John’s xx hahhah x

Im not a follower of fashion and im not materialistic xx

I never understood people who feel they need to have expensive jewelry, clothes, and brand name stuff all the time. It has no purpose except for showing off.
I’m a second hand store kind of person. Why pay money for expensive brand new things, when you can buy just as good items second hand?

I agree…also buying the latest and greatest supports modern slavery…

I’m so used to losing my stuff, could care less about it, I get self destructive when ill and throw everything out, over time just gave up on getting attached to anything.

im into tech so most things that i buy are obsolete after like 6 months,

My prized possessions have sentimental value and most of them do have spiritual meaning.

I like to live a simple life - less is more. I have a few clothes, towels, some books, my fishtank, and a few crockery and pots. And my laptop and two phones. Other than that all the things in my house are hubby’s. I am not materialistic, I share a small but cosy house with hubby and like to practise voluntary poverty - something from my convent days. I am not a ‘glitz and glam’ girl at all - I don’t envy those who have expensive lifestyles, I feel more fortunate with simple life. And its more liberating to the mind to have less possessions to worry about! My hubby feels the same.

To me, material possessions are meaningless. There aren’t many material possessions I have that I value, which is good, because I can’t afford many material possessions. I guess I value my computer, but that is about all. I’ve given some thought to what kind of car I would buy if I could afford one. That does exercise some temptation over me, but not much. If I had a lot of money I still might choose an austere lifestyle, like I am living now.

Life can be hard with few possessions. I am getting my brother’s SUV next month and I am really grateful so now I won’t have to rely on Angie’s car for my appointments anymore…I am grateful for the cheap rent I have for my house I live in and so I guess I don’t have much. just a lot of paintings, a guitar, a bible, my rock and roll figurines of Slash and Jimmy Page, and gene simmons…I have an Ent that talks and Lord Sauron that also talks and some casino dice I play farkle with. six of 'em. that’s about it…shrimp sandwich, shrimp stew, shrimp kabobs…that’s about it…forrest gump scene for ya there.

Too much attachment to material possessions weighs me down. If my apartment is full of stuff I tend to feel buried beneath it. I wish I could say I’m able to live atop some mountain in nothing but my birthday suit, a improvised shelter and a hound for companionship, but alas, I can’t.
